POLONIA CHOIR WINS THE CARDINAL HLONDA’S TROPHY

Hurray to Polish Song! It’s the motto of the Polish Singers of America, which organizes a convention of Polish folklore choirs in North America every three years. This year the convention was scheduled for May 25-28, 2017 in beautiful Philadelphia.

The Polonia Choir, which is a member of the PSA for a number of years, participated in this convention for the first time. We also took part in the choir competition which is a traditional part of the convention. In preparation for this competition, we worked very hard for six months under the watchful eye and ear of our Music Director Ms. Oksana Ostashevska. Our Choir won first place in the mixed choirs category and first place in the general category as well we received  the Cardinal Hlonda’s trophy which was established by the Polish government in 1933.

Beside the competition, the Polonia choir participated in a solemn mass where all the choirs sang together and in the Gala concert. During that concert, to commemorate the 150th birthday of Canada, we presented Leonard’s Cohen Hallelujah in an arrangement for choir in four parts by Oksana Ostashevska

We invite you to read more about that event in the following publication:

And in one more article from Polish Daily News; ” Music is our common language”

All smiling faces…
